Who doesn’t love chips? It is the best comfort food, the best friend you can possibly ask for while watching a movie or your favorite sitcom. Instead of ordering chips, you can learn to make them at home. That way you can save money and eat healthier at the same time.
How to make homemade potato chips
2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
3 potatoes, peeled and finely sliced
1 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of white pepper
1 teaspoon of chilli powder
a few toasted sesame seeds
1 teaspoon of oregano
Preheat the oven. Put the finely sliced potatoes into the extra virgin olive oil. Season with half the salt, the white pepper and the chilli powder and bake them in the oven in medium heat for about 20 minutes. Alternatively, you can fry the potatoes in a saucepan for 3 minutes. Towards the end, add the rest of the salt, the white pepper and the chilli powder. Remove from the heat and add the toasted sesame seeds and the oregano. Serve and consume immediately; potato chips do not taste good once they are cool.
Make sure you add the rest of the salt, the white pepper and the chilli powder once you remove the potato chips from the heat, when there is still some virgin oil for all the spices to adhere to. Adding half of the salt, the pepper and the chilli powder in the beginning helps you control better the way you season your potato chips. If you like, you can keep some of those potato chips to make a great gourmet sandwich or a side dish. Watch closely as you cook your potato chips, because every potato contains a different amount of starch and that means that some of those potatoes may be ready sooner than others.
